Running
MAC welcomes members of a wide range of standards and has three running sessions a week – one coached interval session, one short to medium social run and a longer social run at the weekend. See the regular weekly training sessions for details and times. Our focus is on Road Running and Cross Country and we participate in a 5k series in the summer and a local XC league in the winter. There are a number of local races which we target throughout the year. Details of these are below:
- Cross Country – MAC Seniors (and Juniors aged 16 or over) compete in the Thames Valley Cross Country League.
- 5K Series – Open to seniors (and Juniors aged 12 or over) participate in the Summer 5k Series along with other local clubs
- Target Races – are local races targeted throughout the year and can also contribute to the club championships.
Track & Field
MAC also has coaching and competitions for track & field athletes whether beginners or experienced. Training is currently more ad-hoc than for running sessions but do talk to a coach if you’re interested. MAC competes in the Southern Athletic League in a team made up of U18s and Seniors. You can find all the details and fixtures here.
Coaching
Maidenhead has a number of coaches with a wealth of experience who can help you improve. All our coaches are volunteers and are England Athletics qualified. See the senior coaching section for information on coached sessions and training plans.
Social
We like to play hard as well as run hard and there are plenty of social events throughout the year – some for seniors only and some coming together with the Junior Section. These range from quiz nights to pub runs, the Christmas social, club awards evenings and running trips to places further afield.
