MAC News Report

4th April 2017

Manchester Marathon
 
On Sunday 2nd April four MAC members competed in the Manchester Marathon.  All of them ran well in perfect conditions on a fast, flat course. Simon Lerigo finished first in a very impressive time.  Results are below:-

Semi-Marathon de Provence
 
Celine Sturiale travelled home to France to take part in the Semi-Marathon de Provence in Pertius on Sunday 2nd April.  She ran a PB of 1:50:52.
 
Wokingham 10k
 
Pauline Siddons took part in the inaugural Wokingham 10k, which was held at Dinton Pastures, on Sunday 2nd April.  It was a beautiful sunny day; the race was well organised and it was a two lap course totally off road taking in lovely scenery.  She came first in her age category in a chip time of 56.47.79 and a gun time of 56.50.14,
 
Junior News
 
On Sunday 29th March Abigail Symonds competed in Radley AC Charles Kear Memorial Open, Abigail competed in the 200m and Long Jump achieving a Season’s Best; she also competed for the first time in Triple Jump to take a gold medal in U15 with a jump of 9m 08cm. 
 
On Saturday 1st April it was PBs all round for both Jake Lewington (U17) and Luke-Lom Hynes. Jake achieved PBs in both the 200m (in 24.8 seconds) and the 100m (in 12 seconds). Luke-Lom Hynes knocked off 14 seconds off his previous 1500m PB, running it in a fantastic time of 4:33.4.
 
Parkrun News
 
On Saturday Nathan Brammer won the Maidenhead Parkrun. He was followed by a very determined James Fickling (and Freddie) who finished in 3rd place and achieved a PB.  Sarah Fogg also ran a PB.

Abbie Jones competed in the Penrose Parkrun in Cornwall on 1st April, achieving her best time for a couple of years.  She finished in 28th place and was the 3rd female out of a field of 254 parkrunners and she came 1st in her age category.
 
Easter 10
 
827 people have signed up so far to run.  Entries are still open, and we usually experience a late surge.
 
Membership renewals (Seniors only)
 
Credit/debit card payments were suspended for a few days last week but are now available again.  Reminder emails were sent out for Senior membership and England Athletics affiliation renewals, and we aim to complete the process during April.
 
New member
 
The Club would like to welcome Elisa Harris as a new member.  During the first quarter of 2017, the Club has welcomed 16 new senior members and 34 Juniors have joined the waiting list.
