Sunday November 27th saw the 29th running of the Eynsham 10K race. Conditions were perfect for the race, which also included the Oxfordshire 10K County Championships and the final race of the 2016 Oxfordshire Road Race Grand Prix.
It was a wonderfully supported event and very well marshalled producing some excellent times & season bests. Finishes were very tight between the first MAC male and female runners; with Justin Coombs narrowly finishing in front of Tim Williams; and Sue McEwen finishing in front of Emma Coombs.

The Cyprus International 4-day Challenge
Two runners from Maidenhead (Darrell Bressington and Jon Kew) ran the Cyprus International 4-day Challenge last week: a challenging running event with its 4 different races taking place over 4 days, combining a 6k time trial with an 11k mountain hill climb, a multi-terrain half marathon and finishing with a 10k City Run. Jon was first home for MAC in a total race time of 3 hours 33 minutes, finishing in 26th place overall; with Darrel finishing in 4 hours 43 minutes in 123rd place out of a total of 247 runners completing the four days. This was Darrel’s 10th attempt at the race.
The above phot shows John and Benita Scaife with two BA team mates after the O'Hare airport Run The Runway 5k last month in Chicago. Benita ran a pb in 27:44. This was a one-off opportunity to run on the new runway before it becomes operational, and was run to raise funds for children's cancer charities. More than 3,000 runners turned up for the 7.00 am start.
This year’s Tinsel Run will be on Wednesday 14th December at 6:30 for 6:45pm – an opportunity to run round the town wearing tinsel, reindeer antlers or dressed as an elf or a fairy or anything Christmassy to kindle festive spirits. There will be refreshments in the clubhouse afterwards.
As Christmas Day and New Year’s Day both fall on a Sunday this year, there will be runs from the club at 8:45 am on Monday 26th December and Monday 2nd January. The run on Sunday 1st January is to be confirmed.
