This week’s report includes:
The Dovedale Dash: Five go mad in Dovedale
- The Dovedale Dash
- Marlow Half Marathon and 7 mile
- Burnham Beeches 10k
- The Regis 10
On a very chilly and breezy morning (Sunday 5th November), five members of MAC (Carole & Stuart Dibley, Dawn & Simon Goldfinch, and Tim Williams) took part in the 61st running of the Dovedale Dash in the Peak District. For those of you who love spectacular scenery, hills, river crossings and every kind of mud imaginable, then this is the race for you. This event is a club championship for many local clubs and provides much rivalry which adds to the spirit of the event.
After an hour’s delay the race got underway with some 1500 competitors making the 1 km muddy descent into the freezing cold River Dove (thigh deep), through the valley & meadows returning to an extremely testing 1 km ascent to the finish.
Results as follows: -

Marlow Half Marathon and 7 Mile
Twelve MAC members took part in the Marlow Half Marathon on Sunday morning; and a further seven in the 7 mile race. The course was challenging with its hill climbs, but very pretty scenery. In the Half Marathon Will Burkitt was first home for the club with Margarate Maton finishing 3rd in her age category. Sandip was first home for the club in the 7 mile race, with Stephan also achieving 3rd in his age category (an impressive result after competing in two events the previous day).
A few of the half marathon finishers: David Pearce, Chris Ellis, Greg Marsh and Chris Lewington
7 Mile Race
10K Burnham Beeches Run
On a wet Saturday morning (4th November) Lesley Kernaghan and Helal Stephan ran the Burnham Beeches 10k. Lesley finished in 60 minutes and 24 seconds and Stephan in 69 minutes and 34 seconds. According to Stephan, “the weather was wet, and the hill climbs were muddy with puddles and leaves in places, but the autumn scenery was magnificent!” Stephan also ran the Black Park Parkrun as warm up to this event and was pleased to achieve a time of 30 minutes and 28 seconds.
