Bristol Half Marathon

Matthew Levett ran the Bristol half marathon on Sunday 17th September and was happy with the result, sneaking under the magic 90 minute barrier with a time of 1:29:49.

Alder Valley Boys Final

The weather was kinder to the boys at TVAC Eton last week (Sunday 10th September) than it was for the girls the day before in Basingstoke, for the last Alder Valley competition of the season. A good turnout of Maidenhead athletes saw many PBs and a couple of club records broken.

Starting with the U11s: in the 75m sprint Jack Britton, Callum Presnail and Daniel Chapman all ran a PB, but an excellent run from Callum in 11.1s broke the club record and was the 2nd fastest of the 24 runners in the event. In the long jump Jack Britton got 1st place with a jump of 4.05m and Callum Presnail came 5th out of 34 competitors. New member Ben Cook looked strong in the 600m - his first competition. There are great prospects for the U11 boys.

The U13s saw some good shot throws by Ethan Towers with a PB of 6.71m and a 2nd place; and Alex Stizraker with a throw of 5.85m. Ethan also got a PB in discus with a throw of 16.72m. Another new member and first time competitor was Javier Firma who had a good 100m, but also was in the 4x100m relay with Anuchaa Hynes, Ethan Towers and Alexandre Sevenou. This was the only relay team from MAC on the day and was a great team effort.

Adam Ulhaq broke the second club record in the U15 long jump and got 1st place with a jump of 5.63m; he also got a PB in the 100m - a great day for Adam. Other U15 results saw Callum Jones getting PBs in both javelin and discus and Thomas Humphries getting a PB in shot.

U17 competitor Raja Khan has been improving all season in the triple jump and finished in style with a PB of 11.07. Toby Ralphs had a brave run in the 1500m against some top runners and finished with a PB also. Alex Protopapadakis unfortunately got an injury in the long jump and just missed 1st place by 6cm with a jump of 5.82m. It was Alex's last Alder valley competition after competing for 6 years and he still holds a huge long jump club record.

Alex and Christopher Otun, who unfortunately couldn’t attend this event will return next season to represent MAC as U20s in other events.

Mini-racing Night

The second MAC Scalextric racing night was held in the clubhouse on Friday 15th September.  It was a very successful evening, particularly for the winners who were: Angela Shaw (29.95), Anushka Howell (29.98), Matthew Shaw (30.69), Nik Jones (30.98), Julie Whitaker (31.07), Leila Oliver (31.39), Jon Oliver (31.39), Karen (31.49), Callum Jones (31.83) and Max Waugh (31.93).
