Yorkshire Marathon and 10 mile race
Eager MAC runners, Lynsey Robbins & Simon Goldfinch took part in the 2017 Yorkshire Marathon whilst Sue McEwen & Dawn Goldfinch competed in the 10 mile event (this was Lynsey's first marathon & Sue's first competitive distant event for some time). With running conditions close to perfect and amongst some 7000 other marathon runners, both Simon and Lynsey performed extremely well over a course which was very scenic and undulating, especially in the second half. Lynsey’s time was better than she expected for her first marathon. Dawn and Sue set off shortly after the marathon starting amongst 4000. Both runners ran beyond their expectations with Dawn’s PB knocking 5 minutes of the time of her previous 10 mile race. See times below (chip times in brackets): -
Yorkshire 10 Mile Run
Sue McEwen 01:24:30 (01:22:55)
Dawn Goldfinch 01:55:50 (01:51:38)
Simon Goldfinch 04:22:48 (04:16:53)
Lynsey Robbins 04:34:38 (04:28:43)
Lynsey Flitton ran the Chester metric Marathon in 04:51:31 (04:48:37) despite feeling very much below par due to a virus.
Bournemouth Marathon and Half Marathon
There were MAC runners in Bournemouth in both events this weekend. Dennis Murphy ran the marathon, finishing in in 04:24:44 (04:20:58); and Elisa Harris ran the Half Marathon in 01:59:18 (01:56:36).
Chicago Marathon and 5k
Tom and Ellen Easten were in Chicago this weekend with Tom running in the marathon, and Ellen the 5k. Tom had a tough second half to his race, finishing in 02:57:05. Ellen aimed for a sub 20 minute race but was thwarted by a strong headwind; her time was 00:20:53 but she finished in 15th place, ahead of Paula Radcliffe (22nd) and Joan Samuelson (28th)!
Henley Half Marathon
Six MAC runners tackled the Henley Half Marathon on Sunday. Results are below:-
Royal Parks Half Marathon

World Airline Road Race and East Coast Parkrun, Singapore
John and Benita Scaife were in Singapore to take part in the World Airline Road Race (10k) hosted this year by Singapore Airlines. It kicked off at 0600 in 29°/100% relative humidity. They then jumped in a cab, wringing wet, to get to East Coast parkrun which started at 0730 by which time sun up and temp well over 30°, but it just had to be done. They finished the 10k race in 01:04:36 and the Parkrun in 00:35:05.
Thames Valley League Cross Country
MAC was very well represented at the first cross country of the season on Sunday. Results weren’t available at time of going to press.
