What is it?
As a finale to the season, we hold a handicap race over the Maidenhead AC Course at Braywick. Every runner receives a start time based on their ‘handicap’ which is determined by their performances in the 5k series itself. Rest assured, any sandbagging or handicap engineering will be spotted and corrected! Runners set off on a staggered start based on their handicap, with the theory being that people all finish at approximately the same time in a huge bunch sprint…. That’s the theory anyway. Afterwards we have a BBQ and drinks for members and guests outside the clubhouse if the weather is fine (or inside if not!)
Who’s it for?
Any club member who has run in the series can enter.
The 5k Handicap race is usually held over the Maidenhead AC 5K course at Braywick Park, starting and finishing near the track and the clubhouse.
Usually a couple of weeks after the end of the series itself. For 2018, the date is Tuesday 24th July
While you can just turn up on the evening, you might get a worse handicap(!) but more importantly, it would be much better to know in advance, not least to cater appropriately on the BBQ. Enter or tell us you can help out below:
