Adding events

The Add Event link is above the main calendar.

As a minimum, an event needs a title, a start-date/time and an end-date/time.  These are set in the General tab. A number of pre-defined categories are provided which, if you check them, cause your event to be added to the Specific categories lists at the top of this page.  Ask the webmaster if further categories are required.

External events should usually include an Event URL – i.e. a web link.

The Location tab enables you to pick a venue or create a new venue. By adding a venue, it enables your event to include a Google Map.

The organiser should be a role or organisation rather than a person. It helps users searching for events.

Events can be set to repeat if required.

Subscribing

The Subscribe link is just below the main celndar.  You can be notified of changes and new events by supplying an email address. The alerts can be fine-tuned by event category, organiser and venue.  Uncheck the All events button to get these options.

Integration with personal calendars

Individual events or complete months can be exported in as .csv and .ics files.  .csv files can be easily imported in Google Calendar. .ics files can be imported in Google, iCalendar, Outlook Calendar, Mozilla Lightning and other online calendars that use ICS format. Additionally, individual events can be synched into Google directly using gcal .

Google

  • Click Settings (the wheel icon top-right) and choose Settings underneath that.
